Who is A.J. Hodes?
A.J. Hodes is a comic book writer from the Netherlands with the blood of two continents running through his veins. When he is not writing comic scripts he loves to play videogames, practice archery, read books, history books, indie comics, graphic novels, mostly seinen mangas and listen to Classic Rock, Progressive rock/Metal, heavy metal, TOOL, BÖC, Pink Floyd, Prince, Classical music, down tempo, New Age, Chthonic (TW), The HU, Soda Stereo, Walter Monsanto (Guatemala), Hans Zimmer, NIN, Radiohead, Dir En Grey (JP), Galneryus (JP) and of course Major Tom.
His taste for movies is a combination of old fashioned, guilty pleasures and sometimes nostalgia.
Spoiler alert
If you are looking for politically correct content you arrived at the wrong side of the internet.
A.J. Hodes has seen with his own eyes how it could affect the final product, destroy well established franchises and companies, potentially polarize and fracture fanbases.
And political correctness, PC culture and the so called “Cancel Culture” is often used as a tool by narcissists (The Progmetal band Threshold summed it up perfectly with their song “Narcissus”. It is is the perfect metaphor if you listen to and read the lyrics), people with so called “good intentions” and wannabee dictators who want to control your life. And with it your mind.
If you ask him to “Think about the children” he will give you one answer:
He is just a writer, but he is not a certified babysitter.
It is up to the parents to raise their kids into responsible adults that could make it in the real world.
What A.J. Hodes is creating is “R-rated” story writing which could eventually become “M” as well. Maybe “X”.
Because the setting is made for it and A.J. has been reading about Mesoamerican mythology since the age of 9. Before he even knew that there were civilizations who built their own pyramids far away from Ancient Egypt and the watchful eyes of the pharaohs.
Trying to censor his or other people’s work won’t help children and it will only encourage them to find out another way around to get what they want. So if you are familiar with the genre, medium and your kids discover it for the first time. Try to explain to them what they could expect and read Jaguar Warrior with them or wait till they hit the right age.
That’s all.
Now it’s up to you to experience the supernatural story of Jaguar Warrior.
And don’t forget to send constructive criticism and feedback through the “Contact” form. Including reviews.
A.J. Hodes will post it under “Reviews”. Because only through constructive criticism and feedback he will be able to improve his craft and learn more. Since his brain craves knowledge and that is a continuous process.
It is never too late to learn something new.
