It has been a while
It has been a while indeed since I did a blog post on the official webcomic website. And the reasons are quite simple. I also have a life outside of the internet with a day job to finance the webcomic and private stuff. But on the job is on the job and off the job is off the job. So we are back again to help out the little folks a little bit and the rodents. And since Gifford Roberts reached out to me to review his comic Dynamic Rodent I decided to help him out and give him more exposure.
About the creator and his team.
Gifford Roberts is a small indie creator from the USA who debuted with his indie comic at the 2022 Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland. The first comic in this series is titled “My Not so Average Week”. The interior art, lettering and inking are created by Millipede Lee and colouring is done by Macarena Duarte and Geronimo Caldora.
Short Synopsis
A lonely 4th grade boy gets in a strange accident at a factory that overwrites his DNA and transforms him into a human/mouse boy. But instead of going to the hospital he decides to become a superhero. Because going to the hospital is stupid! And I don’t blame the kid, because the healthcare system in the USA is something else compared to other countries around the world and in Europe. But that’s a topic for another time.
Final verdict: 60/100
I am kind of split on this. It’s ok. The synopsis is good and concept as well. The execution could have been better if there was an editor involved. And maybe a different cover with more attention to detail. The art style is something you either love or hate. But it is suitable for all ages to read and it has potential. So it’s a 60/100 for me.
It’s available on Indyplanet for those of you who want to figure out for themselves:
What’s next?
Reading Hadashi No Gen, Conquistador and American Bliss and a bunch of other indies and back issues. And some e-books on my e-reader.
The review for American Bliss #1 by Genuine Comics is scheduled to go live on the 4th of July (I might do a countdown featuring Perfect 10 #2 and 3, but it depends on my schedule)
After the 4th of July we will do another Honest Thoughts where we put two indies against each other. Cyberfrog #1 vs. Soulfinder Demon’s Match. During this two parter we are going to answer two questions. How did both comics age and where are they now?
That’s all
See you folks on the next one.
