Genuine Comics: Perfect 10 #1: Cover A review

This video and blog post contains spoilers. Enter at your own risk!

Another flashback

On May 8, 2022 I finished reading the first issue of Perfect 10 by no other than Dave Brink from Genuine Comics. This was a warm up for Perfect 10 Issue 2-3 who are now in demand on Indiegogo with Crossworlds ( a mash up between Dojo Kun and Genuine Comics).

If you want to support Mr. Brink while you still can.

The campaign itself made more than €14,343 which is pretty impressive for a Dutch Indie creator, but well deserved. It even got the Critical Blast award of 2021 so you can’t miss with this one!.

(I bought Perfect 10 Issue 2 and 3, because I like to read things in chronological order)

Short summary and synopsis

Unlike Dreamgirl. The origin story of 10 or Ten is slightly different. Even though it takes place in the same universe. 10 or Ten is an artificial android or synthoid that has been created by a scientist named Virgil Elliot Pratt as an artificial assassin. But the sole reason why the good doctor created Perfect 10 and other synthoids is a more personal one. The good doctor tried to save someone he cared about and loved with all his heart. Unfortunatly the scientific breakthrough came too little too late. Some synthoids even took the wrong path and are now on the hunt for Ten and their creator.

Those evil synthoids formed an evil organisation known as the Prime Syndicate and they are out for blood and world domination. This sets up the stage for our hot redhead named 10 to stop them once and for all.

Final verdict: 80/100

It’s a good start and warm up for Perfect 10 Issue 3 that reached over €14000.00 on Indiegogo. And I can see why Critical Blast would give Perfect 10 Issue 3 the award for best Indie Comic of 2021. But I am not afraid to admit that I liked Dreamgirl Sleeper Agent more due to adding something new to the superhero genre. But that’s personal preference. I hope she gets an add on in the next campaign so more people could enjoy the best of both worlds.

Unlike Dreamgirl Perfect 10 Issue 1 won’t break new grounds within the superhero genre (which explains my lower score and personal preference), but it is well written and the art, character development is once again top notch. Mr. Brink has a gift to suck you into a story and make you think about what you see and read on the pages.

I don’t know if Dave Brink nor Darksyde is Comics will read this blog post, but I hope one day we could see a potential team up between Dreamgirl and Ten.

Maybe there is potential in an evil alliance between the Garamun (dream demons) and the Prime Syndicate where Dreamgirl, Ajax and Ten have no other choice, but to collaborate to stop the evil synthoids and dream demons from taking over the world.

But the latter is just an idea that popped up in my mind.

I hope they appreciate the ideas, suggestions and the feedback.

Last but not least

If you like to see what I created with my hardworking friend called NEF.

Jaguar Warrior Issue 1: Death of the Family is available as a vertical scrolling webcomic at www.thejaguarwarrior.com and a more traditional format on globalcomix. In both English and Spanish. And if you like what you saw. Grab yourself a digital edition at Gumroad for $2.00.

I also printed 5 physical copies of Jaguar Warrior Issue 1 in English and 5 in Spanish as a test.

Both turned out succesful. So not bad for a new guy!

So what’s the next review going to be AJ?

The next indie comic on my to review list is no other than ED GEIN#1 by Lucifer Storm (UK) with art by Kristian Rossi (ARG). I read it two or three times already, because the first time I only read the PDF quickly and gave a score of 75/100. Which was premature. Because the first time it’s easy to miss certain story elements, little details or symbolism.

In my next spoiler review on YouTube on Sunday (May 22 2022) and the following blog post I will explain why.

Hasta la proxima!
